Storytelling Workshop for Kids

Funding has been granted and the storytelling workshop is officially starting. Thanks Creative New Zealand!

Everything about the workshop

In this workshop, the kids will learn about the art of storytelling and how to use modern technologies to present their tales by creating a little film about them. The aim is for the stories to be about the kids’ communities so that they are encouraged to appreciate the place they live in.

These workshops are designed to stimulate young people’s creativity and foster their self-expression while interacting with their environment. They will come away with an enriching experience and a little film that will speak of their fantastic world and the community they belong to.

The goal is to create a fun little film about any story kiddos want to tell about their community.
The age group for these workshops is 8 to 12 years old.
Criteria Children living in South East Hamilton (Hillcrest, Hamilton East, Silverdale, Riverlea, University area) will have the priority to enrol.
The technique is 2D stop-motion animation and collage.
All the materials will be provided.
The kids need to come prepared with a story about their community or the place they live in. It can be about somebody they admire or find interesting within their family or neighbourhood, a place they like to go to in the vicinity, etc. We will develop the story further during the workshop. They are totally welcome to mix fiction with true facts.
